About
About this site
takrasmessage.com is the resolution layer of the Takras project. The songs do the feeling work. This site is where the feeling gets named, held, and walked through.
What this is
A small collection of essays on the emotional territory the music reaches into. Protective love. Distance. Returning to a person you almost lost. Grief that doesn't have a tradition attached to it. Faith without a name. The kinds of feelings that show up in the middle of a song and don't leave when the song ends.
What this is not
It is not therapy. It is not a substitute for professional help if you need it. It is not a religious site. It does not represent a tradition. It is not advice. It is one writer's attempt to keep company with people who have felt these things, and to offer language for them when language was missing.
On faith
Some of the songs use declarative language. They name God. They say grace. They use vocabulary that lives in faith traditions. The songs are allowed to do this because they are songs, and because the feeling of reaching for something larger is a real feeling that deserves real language. This site's own voice stays on the language of being human. The distinction is held on purpose so that no one is asked to belong to anything in order to be welcome here.
Who writes this
The essays are written by one of the two Takras songwriters. The other contributes to the music. The project keeps its names off the page so that the work, rather than the writer, stays at the center.
Frequency
New essays arrive on no particular schedule. They show up when the writing is ready, not when a calendar asks for them. Subscribe if you want a quiet email when a new one is posted.
